Edward Osborne Wilson ForMemRS (June 10, 1929 – December 26, 2021) was an American biologist, naturalist, ecologist, and entomologist known for developing the field of sociobiology. The field quickly became the subject of scientific controversy. Critics, led by Richard Lewontin ✡︎ and Stephen Jay Gould ✡︎, argued that genes played a role in human behavior, but that traits such as aggressiveness could be explained by social environment rather than by biology. Did Eo Wilson believe in God? Wilson has long been a secular humanist, but he was raised a Southern Baptist in Alabama, and he understands religion's power. So his new book, THE CREATION, is addressed to an imaginary Southern Baptist minister. Richard Lewontin in The New York Review answers the question Is there a Jewish Gene? Oui, nous en avons beaucoup!
